Banda Jail Official Receives Death Threat After gangster-Politician Mukhtar Ansari’s Death

Lucknow: The Senior Superintendent of Banda jail in UP received a death threat on his phone. Gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari was lodged in Banda jail before he died last week.

The death threat call was received by the jail official on his official mobile number in the early morning hours of Friday (March 29). The call was received a few hours after Ansari passed away.

He lodged an FIR regarding it late on Sunday night against an unidentified person. According to the FIR lodged at the Banda police station, Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma this call on his Close User Group (CUG) number at around 1.37 am on March 29. In the 14-second call, the caller abused the jail official and issued death threat.

The call came from a landline number in Dehradun. The Uttar Pradesh Police have sought the help of Uttarakhand Police to trace the caller.

Ansari was lodged in Banda prison since April 2021. He died on March 28 due to cardiac arrest.
