Boat Carrying 34 School Children Capsizes in Bihar, 20 Rescued

Patna: At least 10 school-going children went missing when a boat overturned in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Thursday morning. This boat was carrying 34 children on their way to school. As per reports at least 20 of them have been rescued.

This boat accident occurred near Madhupur Patti Ghat along the Bagmati River.

Speaking to newsmen, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, senior district officers, including the District Magistrate, had been directed to reach the spot of the accident. He said aid and support will be given to the children’s families.

A team from the State Disaster Response Force is also on-site for the rescue operation.

“Rescue operation is underway… I have asked the District Magistrate concerned to look into the matter with urgency. The state government will provide all assistance to the affected families.” Nitish Kumar said.
