Cattle Loaded Truck Overturns Killing 4 in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Four people died when a cattle-laden truck overturned at Katapali square on National Highway No. 53 under Burla police station limits in Odisha’s Sambalpur on Thursday night.

This accident occurred when the parked cattle-loaded truck was hit by another speeding truck.

Parking the cattle-laden truck by the roadside at Katapali square, the driver and other staff of the truck were cooking their food in front of the truck on Thursday night. At around 10.45 pm another speeding truck travelling from Bargarh to Sambalpur hit the parked truck from the backside. Because of the collision the cattle-laden truck overturned and fell over the driver and other staff who were cooking their food. All of them were crushed to death.

Three of them died on the spot. The fourth one was rushed to the Burla Hospital in critical condition, where doctors pronounced him ‘brought dead’.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
