Check Up: Major Changes in Matric Board Exams in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Some major changes in the class 10 board examinations were announced by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha on Wednesday.

BSE President, Ramasish Hazra said from now on the class 10 board or the matriculation examination will be conducted once a year. The earlier practice during the past two years of having two summative examinations in class 10 has been abolished. So, it is a return to the old system of conducting one annual examination. Summative examinations had been introduced because of the COVID pandemic.

BSE informed that internal assessment will continue for high school and Madhyama students. The internal assessment will be conducted in four quarters.

For class 9 students, BSE will not conduct the examination; rather it will only provide question papers to the district education officers.

The BSE will introduce the half-yearly examination at the school level for which the board will provide question papers.
