Cop Injured by Bullet of His Own Gun in Koraput

A policeman was seriously injured by a bullet fired from his own gun at the SP office in Koraput district on Wednesday. The victim was identified as deputy subedar Narendra Biswal.

It is not clear, whether it was a suicide attempt or an accidental fire due to inadvertent handling of the gun.

This mishap occurred at around 11.30 am at the Koraput SP’s office. Left side of Biswal’s face suffered grievous injuries.

He was immediately rushed to the Koraput district headquarters hospital. After preliminary treatment there, he was shifted to Visakhapatnam.

Koraput police are yet to confirm whether it was an accident or an attempt by the victim to end his life.
