Ex-MLA of Khallikote Purna Sethy Resigns from BJD

Bhubaneswar: Former Khallikote MLA Purna Chandra Sethy resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday, ahead of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha.

He sent his resignation letter to the BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik writing, “With heavy heart, I am submitting my resignation herewith with immediate effect. Thank you very much Sir, for giving me an opportunity to serve under you as well as under the people of Odisha.”

Sethy was denied BJD ticket in 2019. He was hopeful to get it this year. But when he lost hopes of getting a BJD ticket again, he preferred to resign from the regional party, said people close to Sethy.

Sethy had won assembly elections in 2009 and 2014 from the Khallikote constituency as a BJD candidate.
