Former President Ram Nath Kovind Led Panel Submits Report on ‘One Nation, One Election’

New Delhi: The high-level committee led by former president Ram Nath Kovind submitted its report on ‘One Nation, One Election’ to President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday morning.

The report refers to holding simultaneous polls for Lok Sabha and all state assemblies across the country. Now the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls are held separately when the tenure of the incumbent government ends or the government gets dissolved for some reason.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is supporting the One Nation, One Election concept.

The other members of the panel led by former President Kovind included Home Minister Amit Shah, former leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Finance Commission chairman N K Singh, former Lok Sabha secretary general Subhash Kashyap and senior advocate Harish Salve.
