Harsh Summer Days Ahead, Day Temp to Soar to 40°C in Parts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Day temperature will soar high in Odisha in the next few days from Monday. The day temperature in Odisha is likely to increase by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius during next two days. Odisha will experience warm weather till April 4.

The IMD has issued a warning for this rise in day temperature. Yellow warning has been given to 5 districts- Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi and Malkangiri for possible extreme hot conditions tomorrow. Seven districts and nine districts on April 4 have been warned for warm weather.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for a heat wave in nine districts of Odisha and advised people to avoid going out between 11 am and 3 pm. The heat wave alert has been issued for Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Gajapati where the maximum temperatures are likely to touch 40°C today.

The day temperature will be at least 40 degrees Celsius in the remaining districts under yellow warning. Night temperatures expected to be 4.5 degrees Celsius or more above the normal. However by April 6, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in most parts of the state under the influence of a westerly storm.

At the same time, the weather office has forecast light rains/thundershowers on April 6 and 7 in several places of the state under the influence of cyclonic circulation and the development of a low-pressure area. Rain and thunderstorms are expected at several places in north interior Odisha.
