India Strongly Rejects Expansionist China’s “Senseless Attempts” to Rename Places in Arunachal

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday rejected the “senseless attempts” by China to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh.

After, as part of its expansionist plans, China released 30 new names of various places in Arunachal Pradesh, in a statement, the MEA said assigning “invented names” would not alter the reality that Arunachal Pradesh “is, has been, and will always be” an integral and inalienable part of India.

“China has persisted with its senseless attempts to rename places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. We firmly reject such attempts. Assigning invented names will not alter the reality that Arunachal Pradesh is, has been, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

Earlier in the day, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also criticised China in a message on X, writing, “China has been making all baseless claims but that’s not going to change the ground reality and the ‘historical facts’. Arunachal Pradesh is an inalienable part of India, and the people of Arunachal Pradesh are supremely patriotic Indians by all standards and definitions.”

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also slammed China over its latest move. “If today I change the name of your house, will it become mine? Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will always be a state of India. Changing names does not have an effect,” Jaishankar told ANI.
