Pakistani Boat With 6 Men Intercepted Off Gujarat Coast, Drugs Worth ₹480 Crore Seized

New Delhi: In a significant overnight operation, the Indian Coast Guard, collaborating with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), intercepted a Pakistani boat carrying a staggering ₹480 crore worth of drugs. The operation, conducted approximately 350 kilometres off the coast of Porbandar, Gujarat, resulted in the apprehension of six crew members.

Acting on specific intelligence, the Coast Guard deployed its ships strategically in the Arabian Sea on March 11th, 2024. Dornier aircraft were also employed to meticulously scan and locate the suspicious vessel within designated zones. After an extensive search, Coast Guard ships, along with NCB and ATS Gujarat teams, pinpointed the boat exhibiting suspicious activity under the cover of darkness.

Upon being challenged by the Coast Guard, the Pakistani boat attempted to evade capture through manoeuvres. However, the Coast Guard’s persistence resulted in successfully chasing and stopping the vessel. A boarding team promptly took control of the boat for further investigation.

This remarkable operation marks the second major anti-narcotics success for the agencies in the Arabian Sea within the last month. Previously, on February 26th, five foreign nationals were apprehended near the Porbandar coast with a massive haul of 3,300 kilograms of narcotics.
