Jagannath Express Bus Service To Puri Launched, Women to Get 50% Discount in Fare

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the Jagannath Express bus service connecting district headquarters to Puri on Thursday with a 50 per cent discount on fares for female passengers.

This special bus service has been launched under the Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI) scheme. The Jagannath Express bus service will provide bus communication from the district headquarters towns to Puri via the capital city Bhubaneswar.

As part of the project, the state government will run at least 80 super premium buses from the district headquarters of all 30 districts in Odisha to Puri via Bhubaneswar, said the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in a statement.

In the first phase, the CM launched this bus service for 12 districts in the state- Balangir, Bargarh, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Koraput, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Sundargarh.

The fare in Jagannath Express buses to be slashed by 50 per cent for women passengers, said the CM.
