Kins of Brain Dead CRPF Jawan Donate His Heart, Kidney to Save Lives

Bhubaneswar: In an exemplary act of benevolence, the family of a brain dead CRPF jawan from Odisha donated his heart and kidneys to save the lives of ailing patients.

According to reports, the deceased CRPF jawan Krushna Chandra Mahabhoi was posted as a havildar in Jammu and Kashmir. He was admitted to a hospital two years back with serious health complications.

Despite long treatment, Krushna did not get well and became brain dead. When the doctors approached his family seeking permission to donate his vital organs, his wife and son agreed to the proposal.

After the family gave their consent, arrangements were made to retrieve Krushna’s heart and kidneys for transplantation. His body was brought to SUM Ultimate Hospital in Bhubaneswar for the purpose.

His heart will be transplanted to a patient in Kolkata and kidney to another patient in Mumbai. According to the doctors in the SUM Ultimate Hospital, both patients are in desperate need of these organs for survival. Both the organs will be flown to Kolkata and Mumbai.
