Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Convenes Meeting with MPs to Address Security Breach

New Delhi: In response to the security breach in the Lok Sabha today, Speaker Om Birla assured a thorough investigation and convened a meeting with MPs from all parties to discuss their concerns.

This comes amidst heightened security concerns following the release of a threat video by designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.

During Zero Hour, two intruders jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery, releasing yellow gas from canisters and shouting slogans before being apprehended by MPs. This security breach occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the Parliament terror attack, sparking widespread fear and outrage.

Concurrently, two individuals, including a woman, sprayed coloured gas and shouted slogans outside Parliament premises, further escalating the tense atmosphere.

Speaker Birla informed the House about the arrest of four individuals – two from within the House and two others from outside Parliament. He also announced simultaneous investigations by Lok Sabha and Delhi Police.

Initial investigations revealed the smoke released by the intruders to be seemingly harmless, suggesting the intent was to create sensationalism rather than cause physical harm.

Speaker Birla assured MPs that all concerns would be addressed in a meeting scheduled later in the day.
