AAP Poll Panel To Meet Tomorrow To Finalize Lok Sabha Candidates

New Delhi: The Political Affairs Committee of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to convene a crucial meeting on Tuesday, as announced by the party in a statement on Monday. The focus of the meeting will be the selection of candidates for the 4 Lok Sabha seats that the party intends to contest in Delhi.

After extensive negotiations, the AAP and the Congress have reached a seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming general elections. Under this agreement, the AAP will contest 4 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, while the Congress will field candidates for the remaining 3 seats. Additionally, the Congress will allocate seats in Haryana, Goa, and Gujarat, including the prized Chandigarh seat, in exchange for support from the AAP.

The meeting will be held at the residence of AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi.

During a joint press conference on Saturday, top leaders from both parties disclosed the details of the agreement. The Congress will contest from Chandni Chowk, North East, and North West seats in Delhi, while in Gujarat, it will vie for 24 out of 26 Lok Sabha seats, leaving Bharuch and Bhavnagar for the AAP.

Similarly, in Haryana, the Congress will compete for 8 out of 9 Lok Sabha seats, with the AAP taking on the lone seat in Kurukshetra. In Goa, the Congress will contest both Lok Sabha seats, as the AAP was unable to secure a win there.

Interestingly, the two parties have opted for separate contests in Punjab, where the AAP is in power and the Congress is the opposition, indicating a friendly yet competitive approach.
