Main Suspect In Fake NCC Camp Sexual Assault Case Commits Suicide in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: The prime accused in the case of a schoolgirl’s alleged rape and the sexual harassment of several others at a fake National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp at a school in Tamil Nadu allegedly committed suicide. He died at a government hospital on Friday morning.

The deceased, Sivaraman was accused of sexually assaulting a class 8 girl, and also harassing 12 other girl students. According to police sources, he consumed poison at 5.15 am, hours before his arrest.

Eleven persons have been arrested and booked under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in this fake NCC camp sexual abuse case. The arrested persons include two teachers, the principal, and a correspondent of the private school where the incident took place.

The school did not check the background of the organization that conducted fake NCC camp at the school. The school authorities have also been accused of attempting to cover up the incident, asking the students to not take the alleged abuse seriously.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has directed the police to speed up the investigation and file a charge sheet within 60 days. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe is also investigating if the fake trainers committed sexual offences in camps at other schools.
