Man Stabs 5 Family Members in Puri, Nephew Dead

Puri: A man identified as Nrusingha Mohanty allegedly stabbed his nephew to death and injured four other family members in a lethal knife attack near Tatambari Akhada Mutt at Upara Malisahi in Puri on Wednesday.

According to reports, Nursingha attacked his family members because of some family dispute.

His nephew, Soumya Ranjan Pradhan died on the spot. His wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her husband were critically injured. They were admitted to Puri hospital.

The husband of the accused’s sister-in-law was shifted to Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.

The accused has absconded after committing the crime.

Kumbharapada police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

Wife of the accused, Nandini Mohanty alleged that she had to face physical torture at the hands of her husband. She has lodged three cases against him, which are subjudice.
