Manipur Violence: Opposition Moves No-Confidence Motions Against Modi Government

New Delhi: Opposition parties of the INDIA coalition brought up a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government in the Lok Sabha on the Manipur issue on Wednesday.

Congress deputy leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi submitted the notice for a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha Secretary General’s office.

Another no-confidence motion was moved by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party floor leader Nageshwar Rao on the Manipur issue to the speaker.

Through this no-confidence motion, the Opposition has challenged the Modi government’s majority. But the real strategy of the opposition is to force PM Modi to speak on the Manipur issue on the floor of the house.

If the Lok Sabha Speaker finds the no-confidence motion in order, he will read it out in the House and ask members in favour of the motion to stand up. At least 50 opposition members are expected to support it.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said, “I wanna reiterate that I wrote to both leaders of the Houses today that I am ready for a lengthy discussion of any kind.”
