Multiple Volcanic Eruptions in Indonesia, 800 People Evacuates

More than 800 people were evacuated to safe places in Indonesia’s North Sulawesi province following multiple eruptions in the Ruang volcano.

The volcano has spewed lava and ash clouds into the sky, stated Indonesia’s volcanology agency on Wednesday.

The volcano, located on Ruang Island, has erupted more than three times since Tuesday.

The eruptions of Mt. Ruang were triggered by recent earthquakes on the island. The explosive hot clouds from the eruptions reached as high as 1.8 km into the sky.

Around 838 persons lived on the Ruang island and most of them were evacuated to the nearest island Tagulandang. Indonesia is situated on the “Pacific Ring of Fire,” an area of high seismic activity.
