Naxalite Killed in Encounter in Chhattisgarh, AK-47 Seized

Raipur: A Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Tuesday morning. An AK-47 rifle was recovered from the spot.

The encounter occurred at around 6 am in a forest near Bandepara village under Madded police station limits.

This encounter took place during a joint anti-naxal operation by the District Reserve Guard, Bastar Fighter, Special Task Force and the Central Reserve Police Force’s 170th battalion.

There were intelligence reports that a group of 15-20 armed Naxalites along with their leaders like Nagesh, Buchanna, and Vishwanath were in Koranjed-Bandepara forests.

After a gunfight, the Naxalites preferred to escape into the jungle. When the exchange of fire stopped, the body of a Naxalite was recovered from the spot along with the AK-47 rifle.

The identity of the slain Naxalite has not been ascertained. A combing operation is on in the area to track down the escaped ultras.
