No Darshan of Deities of Puri Srimandir for 4 Hours for Khasapadi Niti

Puri: Because of the annual Khasapada Niti ritual, the normal darshan of the deities at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain closed for four hours on Monday evening.

According to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), devotees will not be allowed to have darshan of Lord Jagannath inside the Srimandir from 6 pm to 10 pm due to Khasapadi Niti. This secret ritual will be performed after the second Bhogamandap offering to the deities. The Khasapada Niti of Lord Jagannath is performed on the sixth day of Shukla Paksha in the Shravan Mala month.

In another development, the Puri district administration and the SJTA opened the Paschimadwar (west gate) also known as Byaghradwar or Tiger Gate for devotees on Monday. But only residents of Puri will be allowed to enter the temple through this gate.

Other devotees will continue to enter the temple through the Singhadwar or the Lions’ Gate facing the east.
