North Korea’s Kim Jong Un Reaches Russia for Arms Talk with Putin

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has arrived in Russia on his private train. He is expected to hold comprehensive discussion with President Vladimir Putin on an arms deal.

The North Korean leader is accompanied by top arms industry and military officials and the foreign minister. Putin is currently in Vladivostok for an annual economic forum.

Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported on Tuesday that a train carrying Kim had arrived at Khasan station, the main rail gateway to Russia’s Far East from North Korea.

A train carrying North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has entered Russia, Russian state news agency Ria Novosti said Tuesday.

It is Kim’s first foreign trip in four years.

Experts say Moscow would likely seek artillery shells and antitank missiles from North Korea. In return North Korea will demand advanced satellite and nuclear-powered submarine technology in return.

Washington has said North Korea would “pay a price” if it supplies Moscow with weapons for the Ukraine conflict.
