Odia Engineering Researcher Chosen for Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awards for 2022

Bhubaneswar: Prof Dipti Ranjan Sahoo, an Odia engineering researcher is among the 12 scientists selected for the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awards for 2022.

He is nominated for the award in the Engineering category. He is

a Professor of Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi. Before joining IIT-Delhi in 2010, Sahoo worked as Assistant Professor in the School of Infrastructure at IIT-Bhubaneswar.

Sahoo got his Bachelor’s degree in engineering from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology under Utkal University in Bhubaneswar in 2001 and then did his Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kanpur in 2003. He was awarded a Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering by the institute in 2008.

A fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK), Institute of Engineers (India) and Indian Society of Earthquake Technology, Sahoo has published more than 250 research articles in the areas of earthquake and structural fire engineering among others.

Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award is named after the first Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The CSIR presents awards to scientists and researchers in seven categories every year.
