Odia IPS Officer Appointed DGP of Rajasthan

Jaipur: Rajasthan’s new Director General of Police (DGP) will be an Odia IPS officer Utkal Ranjan Sahoo. He was appointed to the post following the VRS of incumbent Umesh Mishra.

Sahoo hails from Odisha and happens to be a 1988 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre. He is an M.Tech (Engineering Geology). He is the DG of Home Guard in Rajasthan.

In 1991, he started his career as an Assistant SP in Jodhpur East. He served as SP in Rajasthan districts like Hanumangarh, Sikar, Banswara, Sriganganagar, Bhilwara. He has received the Police Medal in 2005 and the President’s Police Medal in 2017 fro his distinguished service.
