CRPF Jawan from Odisha Martyred in Naxal Ambush in Jharkhand

In a tragic incident on Friday, a CRPF jawan from Odisha, identified as Sushant Khuntia, was killed in a Naxal attack in Jharkhand. Khuntia hailed from Anandapur in Keonjhar district and had been serving with the CRPF since 2012.

Reports indicate that an encounter ensued between security forces and Naxals, leaving two jawans initially injured. Both injured personnel were swiftly airlifted to Ranchi for better medical care. Tragically, Khuntia, who had sustained a chest injury, succumbed to his wounds during treatment.

The ambush occurred as the jawans were returning from a combing operation. In recent days, a joint operation involving CRPF, Jharkhand Police, CoBRA, Jharkhand Jaguar, and state forces has been underway against Naxals in the Kolhan area.

Significant progress has been made in the past two days. An encounter destroyed a major Naxal camp, specifically targeting top Maoist Misir Besra, as stated by AV Homkar, IG Operations.
