Physics Lecturer Arrested for Allegedly Molesting 16-Yr-Old Student in Sambalpur Dist

Sambalpur: A physics lecturer of Naktideul Junior College in Odisha’s Sambalpur district was arrested on Tuesday on charges of molesting a girl student of the institution.

The accused identified as Sanjib Kumar Dash had allegedly touched the 16-year-old girl inappropriately on December 24, 2023. According to the complaint lodged by the victim, the accused had asked her and two of her friends to clean the laboratory. When her friends went outside to throw the garbage, he allegedly molested her. The lecturer is alleged to have continued to molest her on later days.

Initially, the victim couldn’t muster the courage to disclose the misdeed of the lecturer. But when the lecturer did not stop his lascivious act, she informed the principal of the institution in writing on February 2.

The principal also tried to suppress the matter. The victim then told about her ordeal to her family members and lodged a complaint at the Naktideula police station against the erring lecturer.

The lecturer was arrested and booked under Sections 341 and 354-A of the IPC, and Section 10 of the POCSO Act.
