PM Modi Inaugurates 6th Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai

Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai, expressing the government’s ambition to host the 2029 Youth Olympics and the 2036 Olympic Games in India. Welcoming participants, he emphasized the event’s role in showcasing the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat,’ calling it a great start for Indian sports in 2024.

During the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister predicted that the Indian sports industry would reach nearly Rs 1 lakh crore in the coming years. He praised Tamil Nadu’s hospitality and highlighted the Khelo India Games as a platform for athletes to display their skills and forge lasting friendships.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi launched ‘DD Tamil,’ the revamped version of the regional language Doordarshan channel DD Podhigai. The event marks a significant step towards promoting sports and cultural exchange, aligning with the government’s vision for a flourishing sports industry in India.
