President Droupadi Murmu to Meet Opposition Leaders on Manipur Issue Tomorrow

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu has agreed to meet with Opposition MPs, led by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, to discuss the ongoing Manipur issue. The meeting is scheduled for 11.30 am on Wednesday.

Opposition parties have been consistently demanding a comprehensive discussion on the violence in Manipur during the monsoon session, which began on July 20. They have also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the situation in the state with a statement in Parliament.

The BJP-led government in Manipur has come under scrutiny, with opposition leaders expressing concern over the violence that has resulted in numerous casualties.

To address these concerns, a delegation of 21 Opposition MPs visited Manipur for a two-day visit. During their visit, they interacted with the conflict-affected people in various regions, including those residing in relief camps.

Before departing, the opposition leaders submitted a memorandum to Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey, stressing the urgent need for rehabilitation and resettlement of affected communities to restore peace and harmony in the state.
