Mumbai: The BCCI on Tuesday declared Rishabh Pant fit to play as a wicketkeeper-batter in the upcoming IPL season, raising his chances of featuring in the T20 World Cup later this year.

Pant underwent a rigorous 14-month rehabilitation process following a car accident in December 2022. He impressed at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), batting for extended periods and keeping wickets in simulated matches.
This full recovery puts Pant in contention for the T20 World Cup in June. BCCI secretary Jay Shah highlighted Pant’s importance and stated that his performance in the IPL will be crucial for World Cup selection.
Other IPL Player Updates:
- Mohammed Shami (Gujarat Titans) will miss the IPL due to heel surgery and is not expected to return until September.
- Prasidh Krishna (Rajasthan Royals) is also out for the IPL after undergoing surgery on his left quadriceps tendon.
