Rs 60 Lakh Worth Ornaments Looted from Jeweler in Rourkela

Rourkela: Armed robbers stabbed a jeweller and allegedly looted Rs 60 lakh worth of gold ornaments from him near Railway Colony in Odisha’s Rourkela on Friday morning.

The injured jeweller, identified as Pradeep Kumar Soni from Rourkela’s Basanti Colony was admitted to a hospital. According to reports, Pradeep returned to Rourkela from Kolkata on the Azad Hind Express train on Friday morning. He was carrying ornaments that he had procured from Kolkata.

While he was on his way to his home along with the ornaments on a scooter, three miscreants armed with sharp weapons intercepted him. They attacked and injured him with a knife and snatched away the bag containing the gold ornaments.

Police have started an investigation to identify and arrest the miscreants involved in the broad daylight loot.
