“Sorry Papa, I cannot do JEE…,” 6th Student Suicide in Kota This Year

Kota: Another Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) aspirant committed suicide in Rajasthan’s Kota on Friday. It was the sixth student suicide case this year at this coaching hub.

The deceased was identified as Abhishek Kumar from Bihar’s Bhagalpur district. Abhishek, a JEE aspirant, allegedly consumed poison in his rented room in the Vigyan Nagar area of Kota to end life.

Police recovered a bottle of the poisonous substance and a suicide letter from Kumar’s room. The suicide note read, “Sorry Papa, I cannot do JEE….”

According to police sources, Kumar did not appear for his two exams at his coaching on January 29 and February 19.

Earlier on January 23, a NEET aspirant student from Uttar Pradesh died by suicide in Kota.

In 2023, Kota, known for its coaching institutes for engineering and medical entrance examinations, saw 29 student suicides.
