Uttarkashi: In a significant breakthrough, rescuers successfully completed the drilling operation, reaching the 41 workers trapped in the Uttarkashi tunnel. The long-awaited evacuation has commenced, with 33 workers already safely pulled out and the first ambulance en route to the hospital.
The rescue operation is in full swing, and the initial phase has seen swift progress. The workers, now out of the tunnel, are on their way to receive medical attention. As the evacuation operation unfolds, the dedicated team of rescuers anticipates completing the entire process within approximately an hour.
This successful development marks a crucial turning point in the efforts to free the workers who have endured a challenging 16 days underground. The efficient execution of the evacuation plan brings hope and relief to both the workers and the rescue teams involved.
The 41 laborers have been confined since November 12 when a section of the under-construction tunnel caved in. The trapped area, measuring 8.5 meters in height and 2 kilometres in length, was secured with electricity and water supply.
