Wild Leopard Kills 10-Yr-Old Girl in UP

Lucknow: A 10-year-old girl was killed by a wild leopard in  Jhundi village under the Nanpara forest range of Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

According to locals, the victim named Rambeti (10) was playing outside her house when she was attacked by a female leopard. The wild cat pounced upon the girl, caught her by the neck, and carried her to the nearby sugarcane field.

The villagers followed the animal to rescue the girl from its clutches. But they were shocked to find the leopard, along with its cubs, consuming the body of the girl.

Seeing the approaching humans, the female leopard and the cubs escaped from the spot leaving behind the partially-eaten body of the victim.

Getting information, officials of the forest department, revenue department, police and district administration reached the village to take stock of the situation.

Forest officials have set traps in the area to catch the leopard.
