Woman Burnt Alive Inside Closed House in Balasore Dist

Balasore: A woman was burnt alive inside a closed room of her house at Rasalpur village under Bhograi police station limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday.

According to sources, the neighbours rushed to the house, when at around 7.30 am they heard Archana Behera (28) crying for help from inside the house. By the time they reached the spot, Archana was completely engulfed in flames.

Personnel of the Bhograi police station and fire brigade rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control. But the ill-fated woman could not be saved. Her charred body was seized by the police for postmortem.

The deceased was the wife of Bhaskar Behera of the village. Bhaskar is absconding since the incident.

Neighbours say, the couple had a fight after their two sons left for school in the morning. Police are investigating, whether Archana had set herself on fire or she was burnt down by her husband.
