Nilagiri MLA Sukant Nayak Resigns from BJP

Bhubaneswar: Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak resigned from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday.

He sent his resignation letter to Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal.

In 2014, Nayak won from the Nilagiri assembly constituency as a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate. But in 2019 he fought from the same seat as a BJP candidate but managed to retain the seat. It is speculated that Nayak may return back to the BJD ahead of the 2024 elections.
