Skipper Rohit Sharma played a pivotal role, scoring 86 off 63 balls. India’s triumph marked their third consecutive victory in the tournament, while Pakistan faced their first defeat after two initial wins.
Notably, with this victory, India also extended their remarkable streak of eight consecutive World Cup wins against Pakistan.
