Khordha: The Begunia police in Khordha district, Odisha, have arrested two individuals, including a home guard, for allegedly transporting confiscated firecrackers and liquor.
On Saturday, the police conducted a raid on an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in Kantabada village and seized a large quantity of firecrackers. Simultaneously, they intercepted a car carrying liquor near Begunia Stadium and confiscated the alcohol.
The seized items were stored at the police station. However, last night, Begunia Sarpanch and local residents caught the accused duo red-handed while unlawfully transporting these items in a car.
The locals promptly reported the incident to the police. A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused will be presented in court, and a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine if others were involved in this offense, as confirmed by the local SDPO.
