Illinois (US): A stabbing rampage in northern Illinois left four dead and seven injured, according to police. Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old suspect who is currently being questioned. Redd stated that one injured victim was in critical condition.

The incident began with a medical call at 1:14 pm local time, followed by multiple requests for police and paramedics. Redd emphasized that the motive behind the attack is under investigation, with no additional suspects being pursued at this time.

Victims of the stabbings included a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man. Their identities have not been disclosed by the police.

The suspect was arrested by a Winnebago County sheriff’s deputy following a reported home invasion. Sheriff Gary Caruana noted that one survivor, a young lady, sustained stab wounds on her hands and face, while a Good Samaritan who intervened also suffered injuries.

Initial reports suggested five injuries, later revised to seven by Cori Hilliard of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. Redd clarified that not all victims sustained stab wounds and confirmed no gunshot injuries.

Authorities urged residents to review home surveillance footage for potential leads related to the stabbings.
