8-Month Pregnant Woman Allegedly Killed by Husband in Rayagada Dist

Rayagada: A man allegedly strangulated his eight-month pregnant wife to death because of a family dispute in Ghadabangi village under Bisamcuttack police station limits in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Friday morning.

The deceased identified as Rita was killed by her husband Laxman Mandika.

According to reports, after allegedly killing his wife, Laxman tried to hide the incident by calling up Rita’s family members saying she was seriously ill and she was at the verge of death. Rita’s family members reached the spot and took her to the Bisamkatak Community Hospital Center (CHC) where the doctors declared her dead.

But the doctors immediately sensed foul play as there were marks of strangulation by rope on Rita’s neck. They immediately informed the local police.

The police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. An investigation was launched.

Rita’s family members alleged that she was killed by Laxman.
