Aunt Accused Of Allegedly Trafficking Nieces in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj: In a disturbing incident, two sisters from the Bisoi area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district were allegedly trafficked under the guise of job opportunities. Their ordeal ended with their rescue from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, respectively.

Reports suggest that two sisters were lured from Bisoi to Rourkela on December 6 last year by a man named Bapi and a woman identified as Debajani (their aunt), promising them jobs. However, upon reaching their destination, the sisters found themselves in Rajasthan, purportedly for ‘training’. It was only then that they realized the deception, as the promised jobs never materialized.

Trapped in a lodge in Rajasthan, the sisters somehow managed to reach out to their father, who quickly alerted the authorities by filing a complaint at the Bisoi police station. Responding swiftly, the police traced their mobile phones to Rajasthan, facilitating the rescue of one sister, while the other was located in Madhya Pradesh.

The alleged ‘buyer’ involved in the trafficking has been apprehended and brought back to Odisha for interrogation. Following a medical examination, he was presented before the court. Meanwhile, a thorough investigation is underway to apprehend others involved in the trafficking network.
