Brutal Murder of Priest in Bihar Sparks Outrage, Locals Demand Justice

Patna: A gruesome discovery in Bihar’s Gopalganj district has sent shockwaves through the community, as the body of a local priest, Manoj Kumar, was found with signs of extreme violence. Kumar, a priest at the Shiva temple in Danapur village, had been missing for six days before his body was discovered on Saturday.

The details of the crime are horrifying. Kumar was reportedly shot dead, his eyes gouged out, and his genitals severed. This brutality has sparked outrage among locals, who accused the police of negligence in handling the initial disappearance. Clashes erupted between locals and police, with stones being hurled and a police vehicle set on fire. Two police officials sustained minor injuries during the unrest.

The victim’s brother, Ashok Kumar Shah, a former BJP divisional president, expressed deep distress over the incident. He recounted how Kumar’s disappearance while going to the temple initially received no significant response from the police. This fueled frustration among the family and the community, leading to violent protests.

SDPO Pranjal of Gopalganj Sadar intervened to restore order, deploying additional forces to pacify the situation. He assured the public that an FIR would be filed and a thorough investigation launched to bring the perpetrators to justice. The motive behind the brutal murder remains a mystery, adding to the shock and grief in the community.
