Couple Secretly Murder & Bury Daughter, Anonymous Letter Leads to Their Arrest

Mumbai: A couple was arrested for the murder of their 18-month-old daughter, more than three weeks after they committed the crime in Thane in Maharashtra.

The couple allegedly killed their 18-month-old daughter and secretly buried her at a graveyard.

Getting a tip-off about the culprits from an anonymous letter, police exhumed the child’s body and arrested the parents.

The couple, Jahid Sheikh (38) and his wife Noorami (28) were arrested on Wednesday. Investigation revealed that they killed their child on March 18.

The autopsy report confirmed that the child had suffered injuries on her head and other body parts.

The arrested couple was booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence).

The couple was remanded to police custody till April 15.
