5 Die While Attempting to Save Cat from Abandoned Well in Maharashtra

Mumbai: Five persons lost their lives while trying to save a cat from an abandoned well in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar on Tuesday.

According to reports, the abandoned well was used as a biogas pit and the victims died of asphyxiation because of the methane gas generated in the abandoned well.

According to police sources, the five victims jumped into the well one after the other in a bid to rescue the cat.

The local police managed to rescue one person, who had descended into the well with a rope tied to his waist. He was admitted to a hospital for treatment. According to the police, six persons had entered the well and only one of them survived.

The abandoned well was filled with animal waste for biogas generation.
