Man Murders Delhi College Student With Iron Rod Over Cancelled Wedding

New Delhi: In a devastating incident today at a park near Aurobindo College in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, a 25-year-old college student named Nargis was brutally attacked with a rod and killed. The police, who found her body, confirmed the presence of injuries to her head and discovered the rod near the crime scene.

Investigations led the police to Nargis’s distant cousin, Irfan, who has been arrested for allegedly committing the heinous murder. It was revealed that Irfan had proposed marriage to Nargis, but her family declined due to his lack of employment. This rejection deeply disturbed Irfan, and when Nargis stopped communicating with him after the proposal was turned down, he resorted to taking her life.

Chandan Chowdhary, South Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police, stated that Irfan’s motive for the murder was driven by the emotional turmoil caused by the broken marriage proposal and Nargis’s subsequent rejection.

The incident has garnered attention from the Delhi Commission for Women, with its chairperson, Swati Maliwal, expressing concern over the safety of women in Delhi. In a tweet, she highlighted the urgency of addressing such crimes and protecting women in the city.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing emotional distress and the need for enhanced safety measures in the capital city. The authorities must work towards ensuring a secure environment for all citizens, regardless of gender, in every part of Delhi.
