Youth Strangles Live-In Partner in Maharashtra, Arrested from West Bengal

Mumbai: A 22-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her live-in partner for pressing for marriage in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The accused was tracked down and arrested in West Bengal.

The decomposed body of the woman was discovered on March 15  in a room that they had rented in Dahanu town of Palghar district in Maharashtra.

The 26-year-old accused, Minazuddin Abdul Ajij Mulla alias Ravindra Reddy, was arrested on March 22 from South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. According to police sources, the victim as well as the accused were from this region in West Bengal.

The victim was identified as Anisha Barasta Khatun. The postmortem report confirmed that she had died of strangulation.

A special police team investigating the case, found that the accused Mulla adopted the name Ravindra Reddy in order to get a room on rent and told everyone that the victim was his wife.

The murder came to the fore when the neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the room in which the coupel lived.

After seven days of investigation, the police team arrested Mulla in the early hours of March 22. It was revealed that the accused killed the victim as she kept insisting on marrying him, although he was against the idea.
