Netflix Removes Nayanthara’s Annapoorni Following FIR and Social Media Backlash

‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’ starring Nayanthara was pulled off Netflix following an FIR filed against the makers by a man named Ramesh Solanki.

Ramesh wrote on X, “At a time when the whole world is rejoicing in anticipation of the Pran Pratishtha of Bhagwan Shri Ram Mandir, this anti-Hindu film Annapoorani has been released on Netflix, produced by Zee Studios, Naad Studios and Trident Arts.” He urged the Mumbai police to register an FIR for “hurting religious sentiments.”

According to Ramesh, in this movie, the daughter of a Hindu Poojari offers Namaz to cook Biryani. He alleged that love jihad was promoted in this Film as its hero Farhan persuades the actress to eat meat saying that Bhagwan Shri Ram was also a meat eater.

Ramesh filed his police complaint against Nayanthara, Jai, Nilesh Krishna, producers Jatin Sethi, R Ravindran, Punit Goenka, Zee Studios Chief Business Officer Shariq Patel and head of Netflix India, Monika Shergill.

After this, Netflix removed Annapoorani from its platform on January 10.

Zee Studios issued an apology to VHP saying that the film will not be on the OTT platform until it’s edited to remove the objectionable content.

Annapoorani is about an ambitious woman from a conservative family and town trying hard to become a professional chef.
