Another Journalist Dies Mysteriously In Qatar While Covering FIFA World Cup

Doha: Another journalist has reportedly died under mysterious circumstances during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar within 48 hours of the passing of US football writer and LGBTQIA+ supporter Grant Wahl .

The Gulf Times and other media outlets reported that photojournalist Khalid al-Misslam of Al Kass TV passed away unexpectedly on December 10 while covering the World Cup in Qatar, a nation that has frequently drawn criticism for its strict attitude on matters like LGBTQIA+ rights.

Eric Grant, Wahl’s brother, claimed that the Qatari government might have been complicit in Wahl’s death.

“My name is Eric Wahl. I live in Seattle, Washington. I am Grant Wahl’s brother. I’m gay,” he said in a video posted on Instagram. “I’m the reason he wore the rainbow shirt to the World Cup. My brother was healthy. He told me he received death threats. I do not believe my brother just died. I believe he was killed. And I just beg for any help.”

But to date, no such claims have been made regarding al- Misslam’s passing.
