Paris: Two people died and four others sustained critical injuries after an elderly man opened fire in central Paris on Friday.
According to reports, the shooting happened next to a Kurdish cultural centre.
A senior at Paris City Hall confirmed the incident.
“A gun attack took place. Thank you to the police for their quick action. The Mayor @ACORDEBARD goes there. We discuss with @prefpolice and the Public Prosecutor’s Office to understand what happened. Thoughts for the victims and witnesses of this tragedy,” Deputy Mayor Emmanuel Gregoire tweeted.

The public was asked to avoid the area as Paris police stated they were addressing an incident on the Rue d’Enghien.
According to reports, the alleged shooter was in his 60s and had been arrested.
However, the shooter’s intentions were not immediately known.
Seven or eight shots were fired, according to a witness, causing mayhem in the street.
