China’s former law minister sentenced to death: Another person sentenced to death in corruption case

New Delhi: Chinese President Xi Jinping has launched an anti-corruption campaign. And in this series, two Chinese security officials along with the former law minister have been sentenced to two years in prison and then to death. Fu Zhonghua, a former law minister and one of China’s most powerful police chiefs, was sentenced to death on Thursday by the Intermediate People’s Court of Changun in the northeastern Chinese city of Jilin for corruption and embezzlement involving US$17.3 million.

According to the report of the news agency, Wang Laik, a former official of Jiangsu, was also sentenced a few hours later in the same court. According to information, he was sentenced to death with a two-year sentence for criminal gang ties and fake identity cards.

It is worth noting that the anti-corruption campaign launched by the 69-year-old Xi Jinping in 2012 created fear in the whole of China because, in this campaign, the chief army officer and more than 10 lakh officers were punished.
