Crimea Blast: Putin Signs Order To Strengthen Security Arrangements

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin, late on Saturday night, signed a law increasing security for the Kerch Bridge and for the energy infrastructure between Crimea and Russia.

The initiative has been given to the FSB, Russia’s federal security force, according to a Kremlin statement.

Putin’s action followed an explosion on Saturday that partially collapsed the bridge connecting Russia and the Crimean Peninsula, destroying a crucial supply route for the Kremlin’s sputtering war effort.

In a video speech, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy alluded to the attack on the bridge while discussing the weather in Crimea, but however, he did not address what caused it.

“Today was a good and mostly sunny day on the territory of our state,” he said. “Unfortunately, it was cloudy in Crimea.”

According to him, Ukraine wants a future “free of occupiers. All over our land, but especially in Crimea.”
