PM Trudeau’s Popularity Falls in Canada as Opposition Leader Becomes Preferred Choice

The popularity of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has taken a plunge while Pierre Poilievre, the Opposition Conservative Party leader, became the preferred choice as Prime Minister, stated an opinion poll conducted by Canada-based news platform Global News.

Pierre Poilievre was preferred by 40 per cent of Canadian citizens, as incumbent Justin Trudeau lagged behind. On the other hand, the number of respondents who think PM Justin Trudeau is the best choice remains static year-over-year at 31 per cent.

This indicates that Trudeau, who has entered into a row with India over Khalistani elements in Canada, may not return back to power in the coming elections.

The Conservatives have a high chance of getting a majority to form the government in Canada in the next elections in 2025, reported Global News.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, a Khalistan sympathiser and a coalition partner of PM Trudeau, got his popularity reduced to 22 per cent.

On the ongoing diplomatic stand-off between India and Canada triggered by Justin Trudeau’s allegations, Poilievre had stated that the Canadian PM should come out clean with all the facts.
